From a worn grey yard to a road-and-play town

Before we arrived, Gan Nachlieli's yard was doing its job and nothing more: a worn sheet of dark rubber, a patch of bare sand, and a play structure sitting in the middle of it. Perfectly safe, completely grey — and there was nothing on the ground to invite a child in.

ColorPlay reimagined the whole floor as a miniature town. A looping road circuit runs the length of the yard with crossings, arrows and traffic signs; a hopscotch grid counts one to ten along one edge; an underwater island opens up in deep blue with a submarine and fish; and a tangle of orange-and-red squiggle trails gives small feet something to chase. Letter and number zones are woven in, so the yard teaches while it plays.

Every element is tufted into cushioned, fall-safe artificial grass — never printed — so the color runs through the yarn and survives constant use. We shaped the surface to the yard's real footprint, laying it neatly around the existing slide structure, the sandpit and the mature trees. Nothing had to be removed, and the kindergarten was back in use fast.

The before-and-after says it best: same yard, same equipment, same square metres — but a floor that children now ride, hop and explore instead of simply walk across.
